In this exercise, we will be looking at our "insides". This mysterious region supports our very existence and, in doing so, can be accompanied by upset stomachs, belches, gas and growling. Jokes and descriptive analogies of these side effects are common. The abdominal organs reduce what we eat and drink into substances that our body can absorb and metabolize. Most of the time this is good; however, some of the time it is damaging. Indeed, "we are what we eat."

We will examine:

• The abdominal wall and its responsibilities
• The organs of the abdominal cavity (mainly associated with the digestive system)
• The extensive blood supply of the abdominal organs including the hepatic portal system
