How do I navigate the cross-sectional views?

There are several ways to navigate the cross-sectional views in the VH Dissector including using the planes in the 3D view, using the correlation crosshairs in multi-cross-section screen layouts and using keyboard commands. Note that if you want to focus on a specific cross-sectional plane you might want to change the window layout so that only the desired plane is presented.

Using the planes in the 3D view

Any cross-section visible onscreen is represented by a corresponding plane in the 3D view unless you have hidden these planes. By dragging the borders of these planes you can navigate through the corresponding cross-section.

Using the correlation crosshairs in multi-cross-section screen layouts

When using a multi-cross-section screen layout crosshairs appear in each cross-sectional view representing the other two cross-sectional planes. This can be used for targeting specific structures so that they can be viewed in all 3 planes. Below is an example of targeting the thoracic aorta in all 3 planes.

Using keyboard commands

You can step through cross-sections in 1mm increments using the keyboard by holding down the command key (Mac) or ctrl key (Windows) and pressing the up or down arrow keys. This allows you to follow structures as they course through the body.

In multi-cross-sectional screen layouts you can control which plane your keyboard commands control using the "Key" toggle button located in the lower-right corner of each cross-sectional view.
