Identify, clean and reflect the trapezius muscle. (G 1.24;N 171;Gl 3.1)

  1. Remove the deep fascia along with any remaining superficial fascia (fat).
  2. Use your fingers to blunt dissect the inferior (lateral) border of the trapezius from the underlying fascia.
  3. Use scissors to cut the trapezius (medial attachment) from the spinous processes.
  4. Reflect the trapezius muscle laterally and superiorly to expose the rhomboid muscles and superior aspect of the latissimus dorsi muscle (we will return to the trapezius when we dissect the upper extremity).
