Identify and clean the muscles of the femoral triangle. (G 6.19A;N 479;Gl 31.11)

  1. Identify and clean (anterior surface) the adductor longus and pectineus muscles. These muscles are often difficult to separate.
  2. Identify and clean (anterior surface) the iliopsoas muscle deep to the femoral artery and nerve.
Important Relationships
  • Within the femoral triangle, the iliopsoas muscle is positioned directly posterior (deep) to the femoral nerve, artery and vein.
  • At the level of the femoral triangle, the pectineus muscle is positioned directly posterior (deep) to the femoral nerve, artery and vein.
