On both sides of the cadaver, identify the external oblique muscle, its aponeurosis, the inguinal ligament and the structures associated with the superficial aspect of the inguinal canal. (G 4.8;N 245;Gl 13.4A)

  1. Identify the external oblique, its aponeurosis and the inguinal ligament.
  2. Identify the spermatic cord (or round ligament) and the superficial inguinal ring.
  3. Identify the medial and lateral crura, and intercrural fibers of the superfical inguinal ring.
  4. Identify the ilioinguinal nerve emerging from the superficial inguinal ring adjacent to the spermatic cord (or round ligament). (G 4.15;N 253;Gl 16.37A)
