Identify the muscles and erectile tissues of the perineum.

  1. Identify the clitoris and the bulbospongiosus and ischiocavernosus muscles. (G 5.60;N 355 and 395;Gl 21.27)
  2. Identify the bulb of the vestibule on the side of the cadaver without the bulbospongiosus muscle. (G 5.61;N 356;Gl 21.27)
  3. Identify the crus of the clitoris. (G 5.61;N 356;Gl 21.27) Follow the crus of the clitoris in the superior-anterior direction and identify the body and glans of the clitoris. Attempt to identify the dorsal nerve, dorsal artery and deep dorsal vein of the clitoris.
  4. Identify the perineal body (central tendon) intermediate between the vaginal orifice and the anus. (G 5.62;N 354;Gl 22.20B)
Important Relationships
  • The bulbospongiosus muscle is positioned directly superficial (lateral) to the bulb of the vestibule.
  • The ischiocavernosus muscle is positioned directly superficial to the crus of the clitoris.
