1. Identify and clean the distal half of the biceps brachii muscle. (G 2.49C;N 417;Gl 26.10A) Cut the biceps brachii approximately 5 cm proximal to its distal attachment.
  2. Identify and clean the brachioradialis muscle separating it from the brachialis muscle. (G 2.49D;N 433;Gl 26.10A) Remove the brachioradialis from its proximal attachment to a level approximately 10 cm inferior to the elbow. Avoid cutting the radial nerve.
  3. Identify and remove the extensor carpi radialis longus and brevis muscles from their proximal attachment to the same level as the brachioradialis. (G 2.84A;N 430;Gl 26.11A)
  4. Identify and clean the supinator muscle. (G 2.84B;N 434;Gl 26.11C) Remove the proximal aspect of the supinator to expose the annular ligament. (G 2.55A;N 424;Gl 26.5A)
  5. Identify and clean the radial collateral ligament. (G 2.56A;N 424;Gl 26.4C) Clean the annular ligament.
  6. Identify the pronator teres, flexor carpi radialis, flexor carpi ulnaris and flexor digitorum superficialis muscles. (G 2.63B;N 432;Gl 26.10) Remove the proximal 10 cm of these muscles.
  7. Clean the distal aspect of the brachialis muscle. (G 2.65B;N 417;Gl 26.10C) Transect this muscle approximately 5 cm proximal to the elbow and reflect it in the inferior direction.
  8. Identify and clean the ulnar collateral ligament. (G 2.56B;N 424;Gl 26.4B)
  9. Flex the elbow join to open the anterior aspect of the joint capsule and observe the articular surface of the distal humerus. (G 2.58;N 424;Gl 26.5)
