Identify and clean (remove any accompanying veins) the brachial artery and its branches. (G 2.24A and 2.39A;N 420;Gl 28.1B)

  1. Identify and clean the profunda brachii artery. (G 2.28;N 420;Gl 28.1) This artery accompanies the radial nerve and reaches the posterior compartment of the arm.
  2. Identify the superior ulnar collateral artery  This artery accompanies the ulnar nerve posterior to the elbow.
  3. Attempt to identify the inferior ulnar collateral artery.
Important Relationships
  • The brachial artery is positioned medial to the humerus (shaft).
  • The profunda brachii artery passes posterior to the shaft of the humerus.
  • The superior ulnar collateral artery passes posterior to the medial epicondyle of the humerus.
