Identify the brachial artery and its branches. (G 2.24A and 2.39A;N 420;Gl 28.1B) Accompanying veins may have been removed.

  1. Identify the profunda brachii artery. (G 2.28;N 420;Gl 28.1) This artery accompanies the radial nerve and reaches the posterior compartment of the arm.
  2. Identify the superior ulnar collateral artery This artery accompanies the ulnar nerve posterior to the elbow.
  3. Attempt to identify the inferior ulnar collateral artery passing anterior to the medial epicondyle of the humerus.
Important Relationships
  • The brachial artery is positioned medial to the humerus (shaft).
  • The profunda brachii artery passes posterior to the shaft of the humerus.
  • The superior ulnar collateral artery passes posterior to the medial epicondyle of the humerus.
