Identify the internal features of the cerebrum (refer to the Brain Section interactive photographs).
- Even numbered dissection tables make a single horizontal cut through the cerebrum removed in Step 2. Make the cut at the same approximate level as the inferior section in the interactive photographs.
- Identify the corpus callosum, lateral ventricle, internal capsule, thalamus, caudate, putamen, globus pallidus and hippocampus in the horizontal section. (G 7.89)
- Odd numbered dissection tables make a single coronal cut through the cerebrum removed in Step 2. Make the cut at the same approximate level as the posterior section in the interactive photograph.
- Identify the corpus callosum, lateral ventricle, internal capsule, thalamus, caudate, putamen, globus pallidus and hippocampus in the coronal section. (G 7.95)
- All dissection tables be sure to identify the structures in both horizontal and coronal sections.
