Identify the internal features of the cerebrum (refer to the Brain Section interactive photographs).

  1. Even numbered dissection tables make a single horizontal cut through the cerebrum removed in Step 2. Make the cut at the same approximate level as the inferior section in the interactive photographs.
  2. Identify the corpus callosum, lateral ventricle, internal capsule, thalamus, caudate, putamen, globus pallidus and hippocampus in the horizontal section. (G 7.89)
  3. Odd numbered dissection tables make a single coronal cut through the cerebrum removed in Step 2. Make the cut at the same approximate level as the posterior section in the interactive photograph.
  4. Identify the corpus callosum, lateral ventricle, internal capsule, thalamus, caudate, putamen, globus pallidus and hippocampus in the coronal section. (G 7.95)
  5. All dissection tables be sure to identify the structures in both horizontal and coronal sections.
