Identify the surface features of the cerebrum (refer to the Lateral, Ventral and Sagittal Brain interactive photographs).

  1. Identify the arachnoid mater on the surface of the cerebrum.
  2. On the isolated brain, identify the precentral gyrus, central sulcus, postcentral gyrus, lateral sulcus (fissure), and frontal, parietal, occipital and temporal lobes on the lateral side of the cerebrum. (G 7.84A;N 104;Gl 40.6)
  3. Identify the corpus callosum, thalamus, calcarine sulcus, and frontal, parietal, occipital, temporal and limbic lobes on the medial aspect of the cerebrum. (G 7.84)
  4. Identify the olfactory bulb, and tract, optic tract, infundibulum, and mammillary body on the medial aspect of the cerebrum. (G 7.23)
  5. Identify the anterior and middle cerebral arteries on the medial aspect of the cerebrum. (G 7.28;N 140;Gl 41.7A) Trace the middle cerebral artery to the lateral sulcus.
