• Obliques capitis superior
  • Bony Attachments:
    • 1. TP of C1
    • 2. Superior and inferior nuchal lines of occipital bone
  • Innervation: Suboccipital nerve (C1)
  • Arterial Supply: Vertebral a.; Occipital a.
  • Action: Lateral rotation and extension of the head
• Rectus capitis posterior major
  • Bony Attachments:
    • 1. SP of C2
    • 2. Lateral 1/2 of inferior nuchal line
  • Innervation: Suboccipital nerve (C1)
  • Arterial Supply: Vertebral a.; Occipital a.
  • Action: Extension of the head
• Rectus capitis posterior minor
  • Bony Attachments:
    • 1. Posterior arch/tubercle of C1
    • 2. Medial 1/2 of inferior nuchal line
  • Innervation: Suboccipital nerve (C1)
  • Arterial Supply: Vertebral a.; Occipital a.
  • Action: Extension of the head
