Kidney In Situ
Rotate the 3D anatomical model to see what anatomy is present. Dissect the ascending, transverse, and descending colon. Notice the light green perirenal fat pad and remove it on one side. Look over at the coronal cross section to appreciate how much space the perirenal fat pad occupies. What other organs are near by? What are their relationship to the kidney? Find the spleen. Is it a peritoneal or retroperitoneal structure?

Kidney and Suprarenal Gland
Superiorly to each kidney is a suprarenal gland. What are the main functions of the suprarenal glands? What is the blood supply to the suprarenal glands? On the right side of the visible man you can see the peritoneal fat pad surrounds both the kidney and the suprarenal glands. Scroll through the cross sections and find the tissue that makes up the suprarenal glands.
