The deep part of the anterior triangle contains the cervical viscera. These are:

• The pharynx and esophagus, which make up the superior part of the digestive tract.
• The larynx and trachea, which make up the superior part of the respiratory tract.
• The thyroid gland, which is anterior to the digestive and respiratory tracts.

The anterior triangle of the neck also contains vessels and nerves found lateral to the cervical viscera. These run to and from the head and trunk, and include the vagus nerve, the common carotid artery, the internal jugular vein and the superior end of the sympathetic trunk.
