      details - at lumbar levels there are three (posterior, middle & anterior) layers; posterior attaches to spinous processes and passes posterior to the erector spinae muscle to fuse with the middle layer; middle layer attaches to transverse processes and passes posterior to the quadratus lumborum m.; anterior layer attaches to transverse processes and passes anterior to quadratus lumborum to fuse with the middle layer and form the aponeurotic origin of the transversus abdominis muscle
