Use the two halves of the head to identify the dural reflections and the major dural venous sinuses. You do not (and often cannot) need to identify all structures on both sides of the head.

  1. Identify the falx cerebri (G 7.24A;N 104;Gl 40.13) and tentorium cerebelli. (G 7.26;N 105;Gl 40.17)
  2. Identify the superior sagittal, straight and transverse sinuses. Observe the arachnoid granulations in the superior sagittal sinus. (G 7.24A;N 104;Gl 48.1)
  3. Identify the sigmoidal sinus on the side without the cerebellum. (G 7.26;N 105;Gl 48.1) Use a scalpel to open (in order to identify) the sigmoidal sinus.
