Identify the paranasal sinuses on the opposite side of the head (without the nasal septum).

  1. Identify the frontal and sphenoidal sinuses. (G 7.73;N 36;Gl 42.2B)
  2. Attempt to identify the opening of the nasolacrimal duct. Identify some of the ethmoidal air cells (G 7.75A;N 44;Gl 42.5) and the maxillary sinus. (G 7.76A;N 44;Gl 42.4)
Important Relationships
  • The ethmoidal air cells are positioned directly medial to the orbit.
  • The maxillary sinus is positioned inferior to the orbit, superior to the upper teeth, and lateral to the nasal cavity (inferior meatus).
