Clean the arteries of the anterior compartment of the leg. (G 5.59C;N 508;Gl 34.40)
- Identify the anterior tibial artery adjacent to the deep fibular (peroneal) nerve.
- Identify the perforating branch of the fibular (peroneal) artery where it traverses an opening in the distal aspect of the interosseous membrane. Be careful to leave this artery intact.
Important Relationships
- The anterior tibial artery and deep peroneal nerve are positioned lateral to the tibialis anterior muscle.
- The anterior tibial artery and deep peroneal nerve are positioned medial to the extensor hallucis longus muscle.
