Clean and identify the muscles of the first layer of the foot. (G 6.74C;N 520;Gl 33.16A)

  1. Start cleaning (blunt dissection) at the level of the metatarsal-phalangeal joints. Use the scissor technique to clean the tendons of the abductor hallucis, flexor digitorum brevis and abductor digiti minimi muscles and any plantar digital nerves and arteries.
  2. Work from distal to proximal removing the plantar aponeurosis as you clean the tendons, nerves and arteries.
  3. Identify the three muscles ( abductor hallucis, flexor digitorum brevis and abductor digiti minimi).
