Identify the peritoneal folds associated with the anterior abdominal wall. (G 4.21;N 334;Gl 13.17)
- Identify the falciform ligament and the ligamentum teres extending from the umbilicus to the liver. The ligamentum teres (round ligament of the liver) is located in the free margin of the falciform ligament and is the obliterated fetal umbilical vein.
- Identify the median umbilical fold extending from the bladder to the umbilicus. The remnant of the urachus is in the median umbilical fold.
- Identify the medial umbilical folds on either side of the median umbilical fold. The medial umbilical folds surround the obliterated umbilical arteries.
- Identify the lateral umbilical folds extending from the deep inguinal ring towards the rectus abdominis. The lateral umbilical folds surround the inferior epigastric arteries and veins.
