  1. Use scissors to make a longitudinal incision in the gastric wall from the cardiac orifice to the pyloric orifice. (G 4.32C;N 270;Gl 15.1C) Use a wet paper towel to wipe out the stomach. Identify the gastric folds (rugae).
  2. Use scissors to make a longitudinal incision in the anterior wall of the 2 nd part of the duodenum. Wipe the duodenal wall with a wet paper towel. Identify the major duodenal papilla. (G 4.59;N 272;Gl 15.7) Verify that the bile duct drains at the major duodenal papilla. Review and/or identify the parts (uncinate process, head, neck, body and tail) of the pancreas. (G 4.37;N 281;Gl 15.8) Attempt to identify the main pancreatic duct.
  3. Use scissors to make small longitudinal incisions in the proximal jejunum, proximal ileum and distal ileum. Use a wet paper towel to wipe out the jejunum and ileum. Compare and contrast the appearance of the jejunal and ileal walls (G 4.40;N 272;Gl 15.10)
