Use scissors to separate the extensor carpi radialis longus and brevis muscles from the extensor digitorum muscle. (G 2.84B;N 431;Gl 26.19B)
- Use your scissors to split the extensor digitorum muscle belly from the extensor carpi radialis brevis muscle belly to expose the supinator muscle.
- Attempt to identify a nerve emerging from the supinator muscle this is the posterior interosseous branch of the radial nerve ( deep branch, see below).
Important Relationship
- The deep branch of the radial nerve passes deep to the supinator muscle.
