Identify the lateral thoracic artery and serratus anterior muscle. (G 2.26;N 413;Gl 25.18)

  1. Identify the costal attachments of the serratus anterior muscle.
  2. Identify the lateral thoracic artery emerging from the lateral border of the pectoralis minor muscle. Trace this artery back to the axillary artery.
  3. Attempt to identify the intercostobrachial nerve emerging from the lateral aspect of the 2 nd intercostal space.
Important Relationship

The lateral thoracic artery is positioned lateral to the pectoralis minor muscle.
