Identify and clean the structures of the medial and lateral walls of the nasal cavity.

  1. (ON THE SIDE WITH THE NASAL SEPTUM) Carefully strip the mucosa from the nasal septum. Attempt to identify the nasopalatine nerve. (G 7.59;N 41;Gl 36.6)
  2. (ON THE SIDE WITH THE NASAL SEPTUM) Use scissors to cut the septum from the floor of the nasal cavity (at the hard palate) and reflect (but do not remove) the septum in the superior direction.  
  3. (ON THE SIDE WITH THE NASAL SEPTUM) Identify the atrium, vestibule, inferior, middle and superior conchae (not specifically labeled), and inferior, middle and superior meatus (not specifically labeled) of the nasal cavity. (G 7.61;N 49;Gl 36.8)
  4. (ON THE SIDE WITH THE NASAL SEPTUM) Reflect (but do not remove) the middle concha in the superior direction. Identify the ethmoidal bulla and the semilunar hiatus. (G 7.62A;N 36;Gl 36.2C)
