Identify the paranasal sinuses on the opposite side of the head (without the nasal septum).

  1. (ON THE SIDE WITHOUT THE NASAL SEPTUM) Identify the frontal and sphenoidal sinuses. (G 7.61;N 36;Gl 36.2)
  2. (ON THE SIDE WITHOUT THE NASAL SEPTUM) Remove the inferior concha from the lateral nasal wall. Attempt to identify the opening of the nasolacrimal duct. Remove the middle concha from the lateral nasal wall. Open and identify some of the ethmoidal air cells. (G 7.63A;N 49) Expose and identify the maxillary sinus by removing the lateral nasal wall surrounding the osteum (opening) of the sinus.   (G 7.64A;N 49;Gl 36.5)
Important Relationships
  • The ethmoidal air cells are positioned directly medial to the orbit.
  • The maxillary sinus is positioned inferior to the orbit, superior to the upper teeth, and lateral to the nasal cavity (inferior meatus).
