Lateral Compartment

• Peroneus Longus
  • Bony Attachments:
    • 1. Head superior lateral fibula
    • 2. Base of the 1st metatarsal and medial cuneiform (i tibialis anterior)
  • Innervation: Superficial peroneal nerve (L5, S1, & S2)
  • Arterial Supply: Peroneal branches of posterior tibial artery
  • Action: Everts the foot and weak plantarflexor
• Peroneus Brevis
  • Bony Attachments:
    • 1. Inferior, lateral surface of the fibula
    • 2. Lateral side of the 5th metatarsal
  • Innervation: Superficial peroneal nerve (L5, S1, & S2)
  • Arterial Supply: Peroneal branches of posterior tibial artery
  • Action: Everts the foot and weak plantarflexor
