Surface Palpation - Elbow, Wrist, and Hand - Muscles
Biceps Brachii Distal Tendon
Standing, sitting or lying supine

Lateral to the patient.

May I touch the front of your elbow? ( or point to the demonstrated area ). Please bend your elbow and turn your hand up (or demonstrate). (If needed, now hold in this position while I push on your forearm).
With the patient relaxed, place your fingers on the distal tendon of the biceps brachii. Guide the patient to flex the elbow and supinate the radioulnar joint. Observe the tendon as the patient maintains elbow flexion and alternately pronates and supinates, with the tendon becoming less pronounced and then more pronounced, respectively. With unclear muscle activity, provide gradually increasing resistance by having the patient ìholdî while you produce a push on the forearm in the direction of elbow extension.
