Identify the rectus sheath and rectus abdominis muscle on the left side of the cadaver. (G 4.8A;N 245;Gl 13.4)

  1. Use scissors to make a longitudinal slit (from superior to inferior) in the rectus sheath superior to the umbilicus (upper left quadrant). Remove the rectus sheath to expose the underlying rectus abdominis muscle. (G 4.8A;N 246;Gl 13.4C)
  2. You will do no further dissection of the anterior abdominal wall on this side of the cadaver.
