(ON BOTH SIDES) Review the anatomy of the cubital fossa. (G 2.49C;N 432;Gl 28.36)
- Identify the distal biceps brachii tendon and the bicipital aponeurosis. Blunt dissect under the bicipital aponeurosis. Use scissors to cut the bicipital aponeurosis along the proximal-distal axis of the upper extremity. Reflect the bicipital aponeurosis toward the ulna. Identify the median nerve, and brachial artery and its bifurcation into the radial and ulnar arteries.
Important Relationships
- The median nerve passes anterior to the elbow joint.
- The median nerve passes posterior (deep) to the bicipital aponeurosis.
