Contents of the Thoracic Cavity

While examining the thoracic wall, find the shining parietal pleura adhering to the inside. Dissection and removal of the anterior thoracic wall makes it impossible to see the continuity of the pleural sac. The parietal pleura is continuous with the visceral pleura at the root of the lung. The visceral pleura adheres tightly to the lung tissue.
